It is with bittersweet feelings that I announce the retirement of Trail Run Events LLC from in-person race events. For 20 years it has been our sincere pleasure to introduce hundreds of new people into the trail running experience. Larry and I created our first race, Valley Crest Half Marathon in 2002 and the following year, we took over the infamous Bulldog 50k/25k Ultra Runs which we operated until 2019. Along the way we also founded the Ahmanson Trails Races, Rocky Peak Ultra Races and Cirque du Griffith Park 6h, 12h, 24h & 100-Mile Runs. Larry and I have given our all of our time, money and energy to produce these events. We have made many sacrifices along the way including but not limited to executing two races while either Larry or I was actually in the hospital!
The last several years have been extremely challenging for us beginning in 2017 with some severe medical health events for both of us, followed by the Covid-19 years and finally, with permit fees doubling and increasing difficulty working with the permit agencies, we believe it’s time to move on. Those who know me well are fully aware that I’m not a quitter but the signs in recent months are impossible to ignore.
In conclusion I want to say that race directing and coaching has been my passion for over 25 years and though I know it’s time to let go, it’s still some painful. Through all the years I have been blessed to share many beautiful and heartwarming experiences with so many of you. In spite of the recent hard times, I hope you will all remember the good times we shared... as will I.
Love and blessings!

CANCELLED... 2022 Cirque du Griffith Park
Yes... only 7 weeks before our event... the City of Los Angeles has bumped our hold dates in lieu of the Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park. Even though I had our dates on a "soft hold" since September 2021 and submitted the official permit application to the office in January 2022, the City just bumped us out of our weekend and furthermore, there are no 2022 dates available at all either before or after our scheduled September date. Too late I learned that even if you have a hold date with Griffith Park, the City can override your event without a thought. I am frantically working with Griffith Park to find a new date in 2023, one that does not step on the toes of other timed ultras in So Ca. I will announce the new date when I get approval but for now I'm asking for April 1 & 2nd. Hope this new date isn't an omen.

CIRQUE du Griffith Park and ROCKY PEAK TRAILS have a new registration feature.
REGISTER NOW and PAY LATER
I have set up a feature on Ultra Signup where you can sign up for the race today but your credit card won't be charged.
Once we know for sure that the race is a "GO", we will notify you and you can then authorize your payment.
Think of it as an RSVP for the race. We hold your place in the race until we know for sure that the park will be opened and we have permits in place, at which time you authorize payment.
This is a "WIN WIN" because you don't have to pay anything right now and this lets us know if runners are interested in running on September 5/6.
Please keep training and take care one another with safe practices of social distancing and staying at home.
Blessings - Nancy

The Bulldog Trail Runs - Since 1992
After 17 years, Ultra Mama Nancy is passing the Bulldog Bullhorn!
Larry and Nancy will be hosting their last Bulldog Trail Runs on August 25, 2018! It was serendipity that Daniel Weissauer agreed to take over the race and work beside us this year to make a smooth transition. Daniel just resurrected the old Tough Topanga 10k in June to huge success so we are confident to be leaving the Bulldog in the most capable hands.
We hope to see you on August 25, to give us your Bulldog Blessings by running, volunteering or coming by to say hello and meet the New RD!
Happy trails,
NSD
